A few words from the guy who started it all

Mr Michael Dooley MMS FFSRH FRCOG

Creating Health and Harmony in the Community (CHHC) is all about teamwork. There are so many people that have been involved in this project and I would like to thank all of them. I particularly like to thank Layne Hamerston and Nigel Hedges for all their hard work and dedication. Bournemouth University have been fantastic in their support and I look forward to continuing to work with the University. I really believe with the wonderful team involved in this project and the creation of a Foundation we can encourage a big, positive impact on the community both locally and further afield.

The aim of CHHC is to encourage us to live in harmony with the natural and built world, with the land, planet and animal kingdoms as well as with our fellow human beings. We also aim to create and encourage healthy happy equal safe future generations to live in a healthy happy safe sustainable environment and community.

Health depends on the preservation of harmony within the body and harmony between the body and the community both natural and built as well as the larger order of things. Healing is a question of knowing how harmony can be re- established. CHCC aims to help restore this harmony through a multi-disciplinary team approach

To create Health and Harmony in the Community we need to address several areas, and these include:

  1. Address well-being and quality of life
  2. Promote good physical and mental health
  3. Encourage social cohesion
  4. Support productivity and prosperity
  5. Encourage sustainable development
  6. Support inclusivity, diversity and equity
  7. Develop resilience to crisis.

To paraphrase the Dali Lama :

“If you think you are too small to make a difference , try sleeping in a locked room with a mosquito”.

It has been a privilege to be involved with such an inspirational team and I hope by working together we can make a huge difference.
